How It Works
Step 1, You tell us what matters most. The matcher asks one simple question: what are you looking for? Options include emotional connection and memory, NSFW content, voice and video calls, free access, anime or waifu style, and roleplay. You pick what actually matters to you.
Step 2, You tell us your budget. free only, under $10/month, $10-20/month, or no limit. This filters out platforms that are out of range before any recommendation is made.
Step 3, The AI matches you. The recommendation engine cross-references your answers against Companaya’s full tested directory, 19 active platforms, each with a score, a set of verified features, and honest pricing data. It surfaces the platforms that genuinely match your combination of priorities and budget. No exceptions for anyone.
Step 4, You see your results. The right panel shows your top matches with their Companaya scores, the specific reason each one fits your needs, and direct links to visit the platform or read our full review. You can then ask the AI follow-up questions in free chat, it will keep recommending based on whatever you tell it.
Why the Companaya AI Matcher Is Genuinely Unbiased
This is the question that matters. Here is the honest answer.
The AI does not know what we earn from each platform.
The recommendation engine is trained on our testing data, features, scores, pricing, verified capabilities, not on our affiliate commission rates. When we set up the matcher, we deliberately kept commission information out of the AI’s context entirely. The system knows Darlink AI has a 10/10 memory score and costs $6.99/month. It does not know what we earn when someone signs up.
The scores are based on 30-day independent testing, not relationships.
Every platform in the Companaya directory earned its score through the same methodology: 30 days of daily use, structured tests across memory quality, NSFW access transparency, multimedia features, voice quality, and real pricing versus advertised pricing. A platform that pays us a higher commission rate does not get a higher score. A platform that does not pay us anything but tests well still appears in recommendations if it fits what you are looking for.
No platform can buy a top placement in the matcher.
On most affiliate review sites, the platform ranked first is the one with the highest payout or a paid placement deal. Companaya does not sell placements. The matcher’s top recommendation is always the platform that scores highest on the specific combination of factors you described, nothing else.
We have had platforms ask us to feature them more prominently. We have had companies offer better commission rates in exchange for top placement. The answer is always the same: the ranking reflects the score, the score reflects the testing, and the testing is independent.

For a long period, Candy AI was not in our affiliate roster, we had no commission agreement. How We Score AI Companion Platforms

Memory Quality Testing We plant 10 specific personal details in week-one conversations and check recall accuracy in week four without prompting. This tests whether memory is a real feature or a marketing claim. Most platforms claim cross-session memory. Most fail this test significantly.
NSFW Access Transparency We verify what content is actually available at what tier, whether trust-level unlock systems exist, and whether the advertised NSFW access matches the real experience. Platforms that overstate their content access are scored down for transparency.
Real Pricing vs Advertised Pricing We calculate the actual monthly cost at three usage levels: light, moderate, and heavy. Token systems, add-ons, and hidden upgrade requirements are factored into every score. A $3.99/month platform that costs $40/month in practice does not score as “affordable.”
Multimedia Quality Image generation consistency, video quality and length, voice naturalness, and whether features work as described at the entry price tier are all evaluated hands-on.
Free Tier Honesty We test every free tier. The question is whether it is genuinely usable or a 10-message demo designed to create emotional investment before a paywall. Most are the latter. We say so.
Every platform is retested when major updates are released. Scores change when the product changes.

Can AI companion companies pay to appear in the matcher’s recommendations? No. The matcher’s recommendation logic is based on scores and feature data from our independent testing. There is no paid placement mechanism. The top recommendation is always the platform that best matches what you described.
What if I do not like the recommendation? After the initial quiz result you can ask the matcher anything in free chat, “what about something cheaper,” “show me free options,” “which one has better memory”, and it will keep refining based on your follow-up questions. The recommendations update in real time based on what you tell it.
How many platforms are in the directory? 19 active affiliate platforms as of May 2026, all independently tested and scored. We are continuously adding new platforms as we complete testing.
Does the matcher have any limitations? Yes. It can only recommend platforms in the Companaya tested directory. If you ask about a platform we have not tested yet, it will say so rather than guess. It is also only as current as our most recent testing, we update scores when platforms release major changes but the AI’s knowledge reflects our last testing cycle.
